CWA To Start Water Infrastructure Upgrade Project In Falkirk

Construction News Image
A joint venture (JV) between Morrison Utility Services and AECOM is set to begin an £815,000 water upgrade project in Falkirk.

Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) will start work to improve almost six miles of water mains in the town from Monday, 16 January. The scheme will be carried out in areas such as Vicar Street, Bank Street, Manor Street, Cow Wynd, Bean Row, Baxters Wynd and High Street.

Features include replacing some stretches of existing cast iron pipes with new plastic pipes and rehabilitating other stretches of pipe by inserting a new plastic lining.

The four-month scheme will make the pipes less likely to burst and so improve security of supply to customers in the areas.

The project will require some road traffic management, including temporary road closures in streets such as Vicar Street, Manor Street, Bean Row and High Street between its junctions with Dundee Street and Williamson Street.

Jane McKenzie, Scottish Water's regional community team manager, said: "We are sure that customers and businesses in the area will welcome this investment in improving our infrastructure and the service we provide.

"We will do everything we can to minimise any inconvenience to affected customers, road users and businesses and thank them in advance for their patience and co-operation."
