Spie Awarded Approved Contractor Status

Construction News Image
Retail pharmacy chain Boots has awarded Approved Contractor status to Spie.

The contractor started working for the company in January 2016 and has so far carried out various works at Boots' store in Perth, Scotland and a Boots Opticians in Durham.

With over 2,500 Boots outlets across the UK, the scope of works has so far ranged from small installations of cosmetic displays, to larger, fire risk assessment remedial works. Spie has also managed the replacement of store distribution boards and main LV panels.

In Perth, the company installed a new dispensary with power and data/communications as well as a new shop front, including doors and windows. A new sales floor was also developed, which required replacing existing wiring with busbar trunking throughout. In addition, new power and lighting was fitted at the front and back of the store, while energy-efficient LED and emergency lighting was installed throughout.

The majority of projects with Boots will be managed from Spie's new Glasgow office, which was opened earlier this year.

James Coulter, Project Manager for SPIE UK's Multi-Technical Services Scotland business, said: "We are proud to give Boots our support, offering our expertise on fire and security as well as M&E to assist with the reactive and remedial issues. Now, from our new Glasgow office, and with our increased resource, we have the capability to complete future M&E installations for Boots in Scotland, as we do elsewhere in the UK."

Audrey Gibson, Storecare Field Manager for Scotland, Boots UK, added: "Over the last year our confidence in SPIE has grown; from a new-found relationship in January 2016, we are pleased to now call SPIE an approved contractor. Given that our stores can be found in all corners of the country, an ability to reach or service any one of our bases is vital. SPIE has extensive reach across the UK, which more than meets that need."
