Work is to begin next week on a new multi-storey car park at Foresterhill Health Campus in Aberdeen.

Construction on the new 1,000-space facility will begin on Monday, 24 October.

NHS Grampian said the adjacent staff tarmac car park will be given over to the construction team and visitor parking will be significantly reduced until the project is completed.

The Wood Foundation donated £10 million towards developing the multi-storey project, which will include charging points for electronic vehicles.

Gary Mortimer, Chair of the Foresterhill Parking Project Board, said: "The parking challenges we face on this site are well known. On a typical working day some 13,000 vehicles come to Foresterhill; we have around 2,500 spaces at present. The cost of developing a facility like this could not be met from NHS budgets. We are incredibly grateful to The Wood Foundation for their generous donation."

The project is scheduled for completion in July 2017.
