Merchant Hotel Glasgow Limited has purchased an NCP car park site from the city council.
The company acquired 69-97 Ingram Street for £6.75 million as part of its plans to build a new hotel in the Merchant City district.
Proposals include developing a high-quality 400-bedroom hotel on the 0.62 acre site, featuring two restaurants, two entrances, a bar and coffee shop.
Council Leader Frank McAveety said: "The Merchant City is already a fantastically successful attraction in Glasgow, and the development of a high quality hotel such as one proposed for Ingram Street could help to take the area to another level. Buildings such as this can play a key role in Glasgow's day and night-time economies."
