Laing Traditional Masonry (LTM) has completed the first phase of a renovation project at Inverness Town House.
The contractor has replaced over 1,400 stones on the buildings façade, each one individually sized, template, carved and built which equates to 162 tonnes of new stone with 70 tonnes of backing mortar/infill.
In addition, the roofs have been redeveloped with new rainwater good installed, lead work replaced and stained glass windows refurbished.
During the work, the project employed two stonemason apprentices, two slating apprentices and three building conservation technician apprentices along with two apprentices completing their vocational qualification in construction management.
Work to erect scaffolding for the second phase of work on Castle Street is due to begin on Sunday, 26 June.
Cllr Helen Carmichael said: "I am very pleased that work is progressing smoothly on to the next phase of restoring the Town House and I am particularly pleased that apprentices working on the project are gaining invaluable training and skills that can be used for future employment in this specialist industry."
