Malcolm Construction has been selected to develop a new £1 million 3G sports pitch in Hawick.

The contractor will begin installing the artificial pitch at Volunteer Park later this month.

Previously, the company worked with the Scottish Borders Council to develop a 2G pitch at Selkirk High School, which opened last year.

Cllr Vicky Davidson said: "I commend the Hawick clubs who came together and worked hard over the last few years to make sure this site is available for the new 3G pitch.

"It will now only be a few short months until the pitch is open and I am sure it will be well used from day one."

The project is due to be completed this autumn.
