Develop Training Limited (DTL) has secured a 'major' contract to provide electrical equipment training for heavy building materials company Hanson UK.
The industry training specialist will teach 1,100 employees the necessary skills via a rolling programme at both English and Scottish sites.
Running over 12 months, the 19 courses vary from entry level - including circuit breakers, electrical re-setting, safe system function testing, light fitting, lamp training and safe isolation – to formal C&G qualifications including 17th edition wiring regulations, inspection and testing, explosive atmospheres (hazardous areas) and authorised person high voltage.
The deal comes after Hanson identified it needed to increase safe working practices on the repair, maintenance and management of high and low voltage electrical equipment.
The training will be provided at both Hanson sites and DTL sites, which include Derby, Swindon, Linlithgow near Edinburgh, Bolton and York.
DTL has worked in partnership with Mentor Training and Hanson to ensure the rolling programme reflects 'industry best practice' and that training is based on the kind of equipment typically used by Hanson.
The company is also providing Mentor with its electronic training recording system, which automatically delivers recall reminders when refresher courses are required and allows Mentor to manage Hanson’s training needs accurately.
In addition, site managers can monitor levels of individual qualifications and identify employees who need 'top up' training.
