SSE has announced a 34% drop in its carbon emissions between 2014/15.
The figure, which is a company record, means that SSE is again included in CDP's Climate Disclosure Leadership Index with a score of 100% and a performance rating of 'B'.
CDP also commended the company for the amount of information it discloses on its climate impacts.
Martin Pibworth, SSE's MD, Wholesale, said: "As one of the UK's largest generators of electricity we are responsible for a large amount of carbon emissions. We have a duty to make sure our carbon impacts are properly disclosed and reduced – our shareholders, customers and employees expect nothing less.
"We set ourselves a challenging target to half the carbon intensity of electricity we generate between 2006 and 2020. This result reflects the billions that we have invested in renewable generation and the infrastructure that supports it."
