Union Square has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) in line with its multi-million pound expansion plans.

The shopping centre has put forward an application to the Aberdeen City Council today, 18 August.

The planning application will set out proposals for additional parking spaces and a hotel.

The expansion of Union Square will also be complemented by a reconfiguration of part of the existing shopping area.

General Manager of Union Square, Ryan Manson, said: "Since opening its doors in 2009, Union Square has firmly established itself not only as a central part of Aberdeen City Centre, but also a leading name in Scottish retail.

"We have consistently brought new and exciting brands to customers in the north east and the proposed expansion plans will allow us to continue to do so in future."

The submission of the PoAN signals the beginning of the consultation process which will involve a series of public exhibitions in September.

The planning application is likely to follow towards the end of the year.
