Scotland TranServ has announced a safety programme to improve road measures on the A78 at Fairlie.
The company will carry out resurfacing works on behalf of Transport Scotland.
Further works include the addition of a high friction surface at The Causeway junction.
The new road surface will enhance the conspicuity of signals and provide improved surface group when stopping.
To allow works to be carried out, a total road closure will occur between 7am and 9pm on 12 July.
Gordon Wilson, Contract Director for Scotland TranServ, said: "Safety is of the utmost priority and with 9,000 vehicles travelling through Fairlie each day it is essential that we continue to improve road safety for the long term benefit of the local community."
