KOSTER Aquatecnic Ltd has recently supplied products for a significant refurbishment project at Amsterdam Airport.
The company, which is based in Dumfries, provides waterproofing systems for a range of projects.
With regards to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the firm provided its KOSTER TPO Membrane for the scheme. The product was used during work to re-roof the airport and was chosen for its kerosene resistant properties, environmental credentials and longevity.
The system can be applied in all weathers, with no adverse effects, allowing for the job to be completed quickly and with minimal disturbance to the daily working of the airport. It was also important to use a product which has minimal impact on the environment. Koster TPO Membrane has a low impact on the environment, and is also considered a sustainable product due to its durability and recyclability.
Unlike other roofing membranes Koster TPO membrane is PVC free and free from non-molecularly bound plasticizers. The non-toxic nature of Koster TPO has been tested by BMG Engineering LTD a company which specialises in chemical and biological investigations into ecotoxicology and is credited according to ISO/IEC 17025.
Explaining the installation process, Nigel Day, Managing Director of KOSTER Aquatecnic, said: "The KOSTER TPO Membrane had to be applied over bonded Foamglass insulation board and the whole system mechanically fixed to the steel roof.
"The total area covered was 50 000m2, and as this was the first time that this type of build-up had been installed anywhere in the world, we are delighted that the project has been a huge success."
