A total of £120,000 has been approved for a new play park in Whinhall, North Lanarkshire.
The play park will be created on an under-used space in the glen area of Whinhall, alongside a new community facility. Features of the park will include a large multi-activity unit with a slide, cableway, double swing, seesaw, two springers, a wheelchair accessible roundabout and a mini bike track. Picnic benches and tables are also included in the plans.
The funds were secured by Whinhall Action Group. It was supported in its plans by Airdrie and Villages Area Committee, FCC Environment, NLC Housing and Social Work Services, and WREN.
Joanne Boyle, Chairperson of Whinhall Action Group, commented: "We're delighted we've been able to achieve our aim – it's another good news story for our area.
"This would not have been possible however without the support of so many people and organisations working together and giving the Whinhall community their support."
Work on the new park is expected to begin later this year with facilities scheduled to open in early 2015.
