The Letters to Loggie Road, west of Loch Broom just off the A835 Ullapool Road, has temporarily closed, the Highland Council has said.
The closure has been deemed necessary as emergency repairs need to be carried out to the road after a landslip occurred on the west side of Loch Broom.
It is understood a ramp will be constructed on the road to provide access to an excavator plant which will divert the flow of water further up the hill. Pedestrian access will be retained during the works, and the Council has said it will reopen the road as soon as possible.
The closure is in place today (14 August) and will remain until 5pm on Friday 15 August.
