A new trial method of carrying out repairs to roads has begun in Sutherland.
The method, known as 'road recycling', involved re-using the road's existing surface materials to create a new surface, rather than importing large quantities of new materials.
The first trial has been carried out on the Cassley Bridge to Duchally Road, near Rosehall.
They are being funded by a Roads Innovation Fund established by the local authority earlier this year. Other methods of road repair are also covered by the fund.
Commenting on the project, Graham Mackenzie, The Highland Council's Community Services Committee Chairman, said: "I am pleased to see trials of pioneering road repair techniques getting underway in the Highlands. We are optimistic that these techniques will assist us in achieving budget savings targets in coming years."
