Scottish Water is carrying out improvement works to its network in Greenock.
The work will provide customers in the Lyle Road area with clearer, fresher drinking water.
Around 70 metres of old water mains will be replaced with a new plastic pipe in which will be less susceptible to bursts and disruption to the water supply.
The project is expected to take around three weeks to complete and traffic management will be in place for the duration of the scheme.
Mark Maclaren, Scottish Water's Regional Communities team manager in the area, said: "The improvements to this stretch of water main in Lyle Road will deliver substantial benefits to customers in the area and we are sure they will appreciate that any short-term inconvenience will be out-weighed by the long-term benefits this project will deliver."
