Road Closed For Flood Alleviation Works

Flood prevention work is to be carried out in Dumbarton. As a result, the Round Riding Road in the area has been closed to traffic.

The road is closed at its junctions with the A82 and Netherbog Road, with traffic being diverted via Bonhill Road and Townend Road.

The closure will remain in place until 3 August 2014 in order to allow work on the £3.5m Knowle Burn flood alleviation scheme to progress.

The project, which is scheduled to be completed this autumn, is also creating a huge storage pond between the Council offices at Garshake and the A82. This will collect overspill water from the burn and protect nearby residents and passing motorists from flooding. As part of the work, access to Garshake Road will have to be restricted in the coming months to facilitate the diversion of two water mains and a sewer. This closure will last for approximately four weeks and dates will be confirmed at a later stage.

Councillor David McBride, Convener of Neighbourhood Services, said: "Although we recognise that these road closures will cause some inconvenience this work is necessary to allow this project to progress. Once completed residents around this area of the town will have the security of knowing their homes are safer from future flooding. "
