North Ayrshire Council has said the final stages of work on the String Road in Arran are underway.
Preparatory works are being carried out to allow reconstruction work to begin on the project next week.
From Monday (28 April), the reconstruction work will commence. This is expected to be completed by Wednesday 7 May. During this period, the road will open between 7am and 8am, 12.30pm to 1pm, and 7pm to 9pm, all under convoy.
Following this, the final phase of the project, which involves resurfacing work, is due to start on Wednesday 7 May and last until 22 May. The road will be open 24 hours a day under traffic lights during this period.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said: "We appreciate that work on Arran's roads can be disruptive and would like to thank local residents for their patience and co-operation.
"We are making good progress and are very hopeful that the work will be completed before the Spring Bank Holiday. This is a significant piece of work and one which will benefit islanders and visitors alike."
