Symington Bridge has opened to road users for the first time, signalling a major milestone in the A77 Improvement Project.
The new structure will improve access at the junction, by providing road users with safer access to – and from – the A77.
Other improvements on the scheme include the construction of Bogend Toll Bridge, which will open in the coming weeks, as well as new footways and cycleways, a new bus turning area in Symington and the new Whitelees Link Road.
As part of the Bogend Toll Bridge works, the southbound carriageway will undergo resurfacing works. This will commence on Monday 31 March and take around three weeks to complete.
A spokesperson for Transport Scotland is quoted as saying: "Works have been progressing well on this project and we are now at the stage where road users can start to reap the benefits.
"These bridges will undoubtedly make these junctions much safer, with road users being able to join and leave the A77 without having to cut across oncoming traffic."
