Plans to construct a £3.5m link between Dundee's waterfront and one of its main streets is to be discussed by Councillors next week.
The footbridge, which would be located over the railway at Seabraes, would give pedestrians and cyclists direct access to and from Perth Road and Riverside Drive.
It is understood the contract is recommended to go to Morgan Sindall plc.
Money for the project would be provided by the Vacant and Derelict Land Fund, Scottish Enterprise, Cycling Walking and Safer Streets, the developer of the Riverside Flats and Dundee City Council.
Planning permission is already approved for the work, which is expected to begin on site in autumn. The scheme has been given a scheduled completion date of spring 2015.
Commenting on the proposals, Will Dawson, Convener of Dundee City Council's City Development Committee, said: "I am sure that the stunning design and strategic location of the new bridge will soon make it a city landmark.
"Thanks to the new bridge pedestrians and cyclists will get easy access from one of the main arteries of Dundee to the heart of the waterfront."
