Crieff Road Bridge Works Completed

Refurbishment works carried out on the A9 Crieff Road overbridge have been completed almost two weeks ahead of schedule.

The £600,000 project saw a number of safety improvements, including concrete repairs to the central pier, plus the replacement of the existing bridge deck support bearings.

Welcoming the early completion of works, Transport Minister Keith Brown, said: "The A9 is one of Scotland's most important strategic routes, linking The Highlands to the Central Belt, and the refurbishment of the Crieff overbridge will benefit those using this busy route as well as the near-by A85.


"It is even better news that this major project has finished ahead of schedule. All traffic restrictions have now been lifted and the local community can get back to normal business earlier than anticipated."

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland's Operating Company Representative for the North East, added: "The A9 and the A85 are both important trunk roads and these strengthening and refurbishment works will ensure the continued safe use of Crieff Road Bridge.

"The close co-operation between Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland and the contractor, John Graham Construction, has ensured that the works were completed as soon as possible.

"We would like to thank local communities, businesses and road users for their patience as the works have progressed."
