The Highland Council has published its application for planning permission in principle for four major projects in the Torvean area of Inverness.

The application includes the relocation of Torvean Golf Course at Charleston, the creation of a new sports hub on part of the golf course, the provision of parkland adjacent to the proposed sports hub, and an extension to Kilvean Cemetery.

The local authority has also submitted an updated Environmental Statement which covers the four projects in addition to the Inverness West Link.

Those wishing to comment on the new planning application and Environmental Statement have until 17 February 2014 to do so.

In a statement, a Council spokesman said a project manager would soon be appointed to take the sports hub project forward.

He added: "The Council is committed to maintaining the momentum on the four Torvean projects, which are focused on enhancing recreational facilities in the Torvean area. Good progress is being made on all fronts."
