The second phase to repair a bridge on the Formartine and Buchan Way is to begin this week.
As a result, the route will be closed at the bridge over the River Don at Parkhill from Wednesday 11 December with, weather permitting, the closure remaining until Friday 20 December. During this period of works, the bridge deck will be resurfaced, with the scaffolding uses through the works being dismantled. Work carried out during Phase One included the re-pointing of arch faces, arch vaults, abutments, spandrels, wingwalls, piers and parapets, and replacement of missing brickwork.
The bridge is a 50-metre long, three-span masonry and brick arch structure which crosses the River Don to the north of Dyce. It is part of an old single track rail route and is now a cycle and pedestrian route, forming part of the National Cycle Network Route One. Aberdeen City Council is the lead partner in the repair project and has contracted Zenith Property Conservation Ltd to carry out the works.
