Plans to construct a skate park in Alloa is due to be discussed by Clackmannanshire's Education, Sport and Leisure Committee later this week.

A report submitted to the committee outlines the popularity of wheeled sports among young people, and sets out the demand for a further skate park.

Earlier this year, a skate park was opened in Sauchie.

A potential site has been earmarked for the new facility next to the Bowmar Centre, and a number of funding streams, which could be accessed to fund the development of a skate park, have also been identified.

Committee Convener Councillor Ellen Forson said: "Skate parks have many potential benefits aligned with our vision and priorities for Making Clackmannanshire Better. These include: providing a safe and attractive place for young people to gather, promoting healthy and active lifestyles and developing and managing a local resource through community engagement.

"They are also very popular with young people, as illustrated at the new park in Fairfield in Sauchie. I look forward to this proposal being discussed at committee."
