Blairgowrie Regeneration Works To Begin

Construction News Image
Perth and Kinross Council has said works are to begin on a series of regeneration and environmental improvements for Blairgowrie town centre.

The project will cover two main sites. Work will begin around the bus terminus and the Wellmeadow area from Monday 9 September, while the green space in the Riverside area will begin on Monday 23 September.

It is thought the works will be completed by the end of November.

In the Wellmeadow, temporary traffic management arrangements will operate in such a way so as to facilitate the works, and some delays could be expected.

From today (4 September), the bus terminus area will be closed to facilitate the 'Braemar Night' event, and this will continue for the duration of the construction works. During the period, bus services will be diverted away from Wellmeadow, with temporary bus stops in operation on Commercial Street. Passengers are advised that departures for main local bus services will be at the following locations:

  • From bus stop adjacent to the Angus Hotel - Service 57 (to Perth); 58B, 59, & 71 (to Blairgowrie High School).

Elsewhere, the Wellmeadow taxi rank will also be temporarily relocated as part of the improvements, and will be to the east side of the Wellmeadow.

Outwith the main works, environmental improvements have already started in the area. This includes new planters at the entrances, bins and benches.

In addition, in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council, 'Blair in Bloom' have worked hard planting up the Riverside and Wellmeadow including the new planters, all in time for the Britain in Bloom judging in early August.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience during the works.
