A planning application for a new hotel, café and shop in the village of Auchenblae has been submitted.

The site in question is west of Granom, on the outskirts of the Aberdeenshire village.

If approved, the new hotel would replace one in the centre of the village which was demolished following an explosion in the building in 2009.

The proposals are due to be discussed by the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee next week. The consultation will allow residents to share their views regarding the application.

It will be held at Auchenblae Village Hall at 7pm on 10 September, with Councillors taking in a site visit before the meeting.

A large number of (175) of representations have been received in connection to the application, leading to the convening of the meeting. A decision on the development will not be made next week. The meeting is open to the public but only those who have submitted a valid letter of representation and request to address the Area Committee will be eligible to speak on the night.

Following the process, the application will then go before a future meeting of the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee for determination.
