Communities in North Ayrshire are being invited to share their views on the proposed design for the A737 Dalry Bypass road scheme.

The invite was issued as Transport Scotland published the draft Road Orders and Environmental Statement for the project.

The plan would help separate local from strategic traffic as well as lead to improved safety for both road users and the local community in and around Dalry.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: "This Scottish Government is committed to delivering much-needed schemes that help ease traffic congestion for communities like Dalry, while speeding up journeys for road users.

"The Dalry Bypass when completed will encourage improved economic and employment opportunities through better journey time reliability for motorists and businesses along the length of the A737.

"I would encourage local people to take the opportunity next week to visit the public exhibition and offer their comments on our proposals for this scheme which will bring lasting benefits for anyone travelling in this part of North Ayrshire."

Subject to completion of the necessary statutory procedures, construction will commence in 2014.

The public consultation will be held at Dalry Primary School from 12 noon to 7.30pm on Friday 9 August.
