Roads Programme For Linwood Roundabout

Construction News Image
Renfrewshire Council's ambitious roadworks programme worth £5.7m is to roll out to Linwood over the next two weekends.

The Linwood Toll Roundabout, where the B789 Elderslie Road and the A761 Ferguslie and Linwood Road meet, is to be resurfaced in two stages from 20/21 July and 27/28 July.

During the resurfacing work, temporary lights will be in place to keep traffic flowing between the A761 Ferguslie and B789 Elderslie Road.

Access to and from Linwood Road will be subject to the following diversions:

  • From A761 Ferguslie heading north to Phoenix Retail Park: B789 Elderslie Main Road, via Johnstone, A737, Linwood Road

  • From Linwood Road heading south to A761 Ferguslie: Barskiven Road, Ferguslie Park Avenue, Blackstoun Road, McKenzie Street, Well Street, B7050, A761

  • A secondary diversion will also be in place to cater for HGV's to avoid the low bridge on B789 Elderslie Main Road.

Councillor Eddie Devine, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Environment Policy Board, said: "We are carrying out some major road works in Renfrew, Linwood and Paisley over the summer. Our aim is to complete several challenging road projects quickly and efficiently and with the minimum of disruption to drivers and businesses.

"We recognise that the condition of our roads is one of the most important issues for our community.

"That's why this year we are spending more money than ever before on resurfacing and road repairs.

"There are going to be some long diversions in place but we are doing our best to keep people informed about them and warning drivers well in advance that they may face more congestion and some delays."
