Construction consultancy firm Turner & Townsend has announced it has been appointed as Employer's Agent, to provide project and cost management services for a major development in Glasgow.

Commercial property developers, Abstract Securities Limited, have tasked Turner & Townsend with its high profile city-centre office development in Glasgow, St Vincent Plaza.

The 170,000 sq ft project is located within the city’s Central Business District on St Vincent Street and will provide BREEAM Grade A offices with unparalleled views.

The appointment follows Turner & Townsend’s work on the neighbouring Scottish Power headquarters, also on St Vincent Street.

Commenting on the appointments, Turner & Townsend Glasgow Director, Andy Outram, said: "This appointment represents a massive success for Turner & Townsend and it is fantastic to see our expertise working on high profile Scottish projects recognised in this way.

"As one of the first truly speculative office developments for a number of years, St Vincent Plaza represents a fantastic opportunity for Glasgow’s regeneration, not to mention a return to health for the city’s commercial construction industry which has struggled in the current climate."

Work is set to begin on 5 June, with a scheduled completion date of spring 2015.
