The first grants from Scotland's £10m Active Places fund have been announced, with three new sport and play facilities earmarked for construction in North Lanarkshire.
A £100k cash boost will see a world-class BMX facility built at Cumbernauld's Broadwood Loch and the championship-level track will allow beginners and advanced BMX enthusiasts to make use of the facility.
The £375k track, which is supported by North Lanarkshire Council and a number of other funders, will be the only one of its kind in Scotland.
The other two projects which received funding from the Active Places initiative were in Cumbernauld and Wishaw.
In Abronhill, Cumbernauld, £18k is being put towards a football kickabout area, while £55k is going towards a play area project on Wishaw's Tarbet Avenue.
North Lanarkshire is one of the first areas in Scotland to benefit from a grant from the £10m fund which aims to develop and revamp facilities across the country in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
