Wood Group PSN (WGPSN), the oil services company, has secured a major North Sea contract, the Scotsman has reported.

It is understood to be a contract extension with oil and gas giant Total.

Under the deal, WGPSN will continue to provide engineering, procurement, construction and services to Total's Alwyn, Dunbar, Elgin and Franklin offshore platforms as well as the St Fergus onshore gas plant.

The contract is expected to be worth almost £100m over two years.

Total first awarded WGPSN the contract 10 years ago. Since then, its operations have expanded with 200 onshore and 100 offshore jobs supported in the UK.

Managing Director of WGPSN UK David Stewart said: "This contract renewal is testament to the quality and standards of the services we provide.

"It's an important contract in our UK business and we are proud to continue to work with Total to deliver a range of technically challenging projects."

WGPSN has a number of Scottish offices.

Last month, the company reported a 43% increase in pre-tax profits for 2012.

The company, which designs, builds and maintains oil and gas facilities worldwide, said growth had been achieved across its three main divisions.
