Construction work on Paisley Town Hall is progressing well ahead of its reopening next month.

The new venue will be fully accessible for people with disabilities and will be available for entertainment, weddings and conferences.

As part of the refurbishment works, the hall has a remodelled foyer and the creation of a new interior space from the existing cloisters.

Renfrewshire Council Leader Mark Macmillan visited the site and said the building will be more vital to the town than before.

He said: "The town hall will become an even bigger asset to Paisley when it reopens in May.

"We are investing in our architectural and cultural heritage as a step towards the economic regeneration of our town centres.

"Aside from the restoration of a much-loved building, the project is also generating work opportunities for young people as apprentices."

Once the £2.36m refurbishment project is completed next month. the town hall will reopen in time to host the Royal National Mòd in October 2013.
