Work on the upgrading of Glasgow’s Ibrox station is due to start in March.
Graham Construction has been announced as the contractor for the £1.7m refurbishment.
The development is part of a Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) initiative for a multi-million pound programme of upgrades to all 15 stations in Glasgow over the next six years.
Graham, Sir Robert McAlpine and Clancy Docwra have been appointed to the framework agreement and will compete for the work at each station as part of the on-going programme.
Work at Ibrox is expected to be completed in time for Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games.
The refurbishment and improvement works will see GRAHAM replace all floor, walls and ceiling materials throughout the station.
Information and general signage for passengers will be improved, passenger facilities and equipment upgraded and more efficient lighting will be installed.
Work to be carried out at the station also includes the improvement of facilities for disabled passengers and the creation of a new station office.
New roof lights and canopies will be introduced and underutilised space will be redeveloped.
Up to 30 workers will be on-site during the busiest phases of the work.
Graham Construction regional director Gary Holmes said: "GRAHAM has a real track record of working on transport projects, including the trams network in Edinburgh and the redevelopment of St Pancras Station in London.
"We are therefore extremely proud to be part of the team delivering the upgrade of the stations on the Glasgow Subway system and look forward to starting work on our first project at Ibrox."
