The Minister for Public Health joined pupils from a local school to see how construction was going at the Aberdeen Community Health and Care Village site.
The project director, Miller Construction's Jackie Bremner, invited the pupils to create a time capsule including children's fact files, Euro 2012 stickers, Hanover Street - The Movie and a wristband from the Olympic Torch visit, and lower it into the ground at the site.
David Stobie of Miller Construction said: "It was a pleasure to welcome the Minister and Hanover Street School pupils onto site. Work is well underway and significant progress is being made."
The 6,000 sq m, three storey building, due for completion in December 2013, is the first 'Design, Build, Finance and Maintain' contract in Scotland, taken forward under the Scottish Futures Trust hub delivery process. hub North Scotland will be responsible for the delivery of the facilities which are being built by main contractor, Miller Construction.
Mr Matheson, MSP, said: "Having the right facilities in the right place is important to people across Scotland and we are determined to ensure staff and patients can work and be treated in the best possible surroundings."
Aberdeen Health Village is designed to provide out-patient services including minor surgery, radiology, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, and a health-point information service for patients, carers and staff.
The first building to be completed on the site will be a 185 space multi-storey car park, which will be owned and operated by Aberdeen City Council and is due to open in November.
