Road To Success For North-East Haulage Firm

A leading North-east road transport firm has invested £2million in its premises and haulage fleet to cope with continual business growth.

Grampian Continental, which was launched in 2009, has experienced an impressive first three years in business which has resulted in the firm increasing it’s fleet and expanding its team and base at Kinellar in Aberdeenshire.

The haulage firm recently spent £1.5million on nine new trucks to add to its existing fleet of 40 trucks and 80 trailers operating across the UK, Europe and North Africa.

A 4,800 sq ft warehouse has also been erected at the firm’s site as a transit and storage facility. In addition, to the recent investment, five new jobs have been created, increasing the locally based workforce to a 22 strong team.

The investment follows an increase in business in the first half of this year with a £15million turnover reported for 2011-2012 and a forecast of £20million for 2012-2013.

Sales Director, Gavin Murray, said: “We are focussed on continuing to grow our business in the North-east of Scotland and to re-invest in our assets and our workforce. We enjoy creating job opportunities for local people and adding even more experience to our team, which can only further enhance the quality of service that we can offer our range of clients.”

Grampian Continental, which was awarded the 2012 Scottish Haulier of the Year by a leading industry publication, works with more than 500 clients delivering a large percentage of work for the oil and gas sector to support exploration projects with logistical requirements.
