Search On For Scotland's Greenest Construction Firm

There is less than one month to go for construction companies to enter the race to find Scotland's most environmentally-aware firms.

Construction firms are being urged to enter the 2012 Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards before the 6 July deadline.

The environmental awards scheme, now in its thirteenth year, aims to recognise businesses of all sizes and sectors employing environmental best practice in their day-to-day activity.

Previous winners of the free to enter awards have included City Building - Glasgow City Council's arm's length construction company - which scooped the Energy Award in 2012.

Gillian Bruce of VIBES said: "The awards recognise businesses which have taken significant steps to improve or reduce their impact on the environment. We have received many high quality entries so far, and we hope that even more of Scotland’s leading businesses will enter this year to be in with a chance of gaining recognition for their sustainable practices."

Winners will be selected from nine categories including 'management award' for large companies and SMEs, 'waste and resources', 'best micro business', 'changing behaviour' and this year's new category, 'collaboration'.

All shortlisted entries for the VIBES Awards will be offered free support from ECCI. This support will be available for a minimum of half a day, and a maximum of three days, within six months of the VIBES Award ceremony.

VIBES is the only Scottish awards scheme which feeds into the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE).
