Home building industry body Homes for Scotland has elected Andy Pearson, Managing Director of Borders-based Tweed Homes as Chairman for the next 12 months.

A Chartered Surveyor by profession, Pearson (50) established Tweed Homes in 1996 and has been a Board member of Homes for Scotland since 2009.

Wishing to see more homes built across all tenure groups, more jobs and apprenticeships created and a real buzz return to building sites throughout the country, Pearson recently (Friday 4 May) gave his inaugural address in front of a 700-strong crowd of senior industry representatives and Housing Minister Keith Brown.

Whilst congratulating the Scottish Government for its raft of support measures and record levels of investment in housing in recent years, he also called on it to help remove the barriers and burdens hampering the industry’s delivery of much needed new homes. He identified the impact of the low carbon agenda and the reform of the planning system as key areas of focus during his tenure in office.

Married to Moira with two daughters, Pearson is a keen golfer, hillwalker, fly fisherman and also enjoys following Peebles Rugby Club.
