Community groups in Dundee could be set to use sporting facilities at the Centenary Wing of the former Grove Academy, now the location of Eastern Primary, if a report is approved on Monday (March 26).

The education committee is being asked to back a recommendation for the facility to be open for groups to use the hall from 6pm on weekdays and also at weekends.

A report details how the hall will be used by council active schools clubs until 6pm on weekdays.


Community bookings would be charged in accordance with the corporate letting policy and these would be handled by the council's customer services team.

Education convener Cllr Liz Fordyce said: "I am pleased that this proposal for the further development of community sports facilities in Broughty Ferry is being brought forward.

"Eastern Primary has now been based in its new building since the start of the school year, with pupils settling in to their surroundings.

"I am glad that people would have an opportunity to use the school facilities for sporting activities and it would further strengthen the school's links with the wider community."
