One of Scotland's largest public sector service providers has been appointed to the framework contract to supply kitchen units in an area larger than Belgium.

Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi) has been appointed to the framework agreement to provide the equipment for Highland Council, which is based in Inverness and oversees the UK's largest local authority area.

Highland Council provides public services for a population of more than 200,000 people in hundreds of locations spanning the far north of the Scottish mainland such as Aviemore, Kingussie, Fort William and Dingwall.

As part of the framework contract, RSBi, which was chosen ahead of several established private sector competitors, will bid to supply kitchen units for a range of sites including council premises, schools, libraries, sports facilities and care homes.

The company is keen to expand its operations outside Glasgow and has recently won contracts in Lanarkshire and Edinburgh.

Willie Docherty, managing director of City Building, said: “This is a real boost for us and hopefully a sign of things to come. While we are involved in many projects in the Glasgow area, it is very pleasing to see our high standards being recognised further afield, which can only raise our profile further.”

He added: “While we have been appointed to the framework agreement, the hard work starts now to ensure that we follow up our initial success and secure as much work as possible through this opportunity.”
