Alba Structural Systems was called in by a partner interior fit out company to help an oil company based in Dunfermline, Fife, come up with a solution to a lack of office space needed for a new development team that were being recruited.

An area in the high bay warehouse that was not being utilised was identified as an area that could be used. With the amount of height available the design called for a 2-tier Q-dek mezzanine decking system to be installed to provide office space on the ground and create an additional first and second level.

The structure was 1-hour fire rated to comply with building regulations and the staircases were enclosed within fire rated enclosures to provide safe means of escape. The fit out also incorporated toilets on the mezzanine level and a disabled compliant lift to access both levels. The finished project provided office space and facilities for over 100 staff was completed on time and within budget.
