Angus Council’s building standards service has obtained Customer Service Excellence accreditation for the second year.

The Customer Service Excellence Standard is awarded to building standards services which provide a high quality customer centred service which has improved and continues to improve.

Commending the team on its success Infrastructure Services convener councillor David May said: “The retention of this national award is a credit to the hard work and commitment of our building standards service. Their work ensures that buildings in the county are designed and constructed in accordance with the required standards laid down by the government.

“The quality and importance of this work has also been recognised by the Scottish Government, which has confirmed that Angus Council has been reappointed as verifiers of building warrants for the Angus area.”

The council first achieved verifier status in 2008. As part of the verification process Angus Council’s building standards were audited and achieved a very high score of four excellent ratings and one good across the five areas under assessment.

In Scotland building standards services are also responsible for enforcement action related to unauthorised work or dangerous buildings, licensing work in relation to houses in multiple occupation and safety at sports grounds.
