A Glasgow-based project manager from Kier Scotland has won a prestigious silver medal at this year’s Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year Awards.

Alex Gerrie, 28, from Scotstoun, picked up the honour in the New Build & Refurbishment category, for his work on the £2.5m CSA Parklands project in Falkirk for Telereal Trillium.

The awards, which are now in their 32nd year, were announced at a gala evening at the Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London on Thursday 14 October.

Judged by the CIOB, the awards are regarded as the premier showcase for management excellence in UK construction, and reaching the final of the competition represents a significant career achievement to all finalists.

The year-long project at CSA Parklands comprised structural repairs and masonry remedial works to the office building. The scale of the remedial works meant that skilful client liaison was required to ensure minimal disruption to the call centre business which continued operations throughout.

Commenting on his achievement, Alex said: "I am very pleased and honoured to have received this award. Working on the CSA Parklands project was both challenging and rewarding for all involved and the whole team is duly proud of the result."
