Children at Barshare Primary, east Ayrshire, have landed a share of a bumper round of lottery awards, to the tune of £6690.
The school has been successful in its bid for an Awards for All grant – and the plan is to use this to help create a new sensory garden at the school.
Acting Head Teacher Angela Hastings said: “This will develop our outside space and will greatly benefit the children in the Supported Learning Centre and mainstream classes. We worked hard to involve the children in designing the features of the garden and staff worked hard to complete the application and plans required to secure this offer.”
Councillor Jim Roberts, Spokesperson for Lifelong Learning, said: “This is great news. Work on the garden will begin in the new session in August. I’m pleased that the young people have had the chance for their ideas to be incorporated into the design and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”
Awards for All gives grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
