Galliford Try Win £300m Community Project

Galliford Try, the housebuilding and construction group, has been selected as preferred private sector partner for the development of £300 million of community facilities across South East Scotland over the next 10 years.

The firm will be working as part of the SPACE consortium – which includes Davis Langdon and Fulcrum Infrastructure Group – and in conjunction with the South East hub Territory Board, Scottish Futures Trust, Councils, NHS Health Boards and the Emergency Services.

The hub initiative has similarities with the LIFT and BSF programmes in England and in Scotland will deliver development of modern joint facilities for the public sector. It is based on a single-point-of-delivery model in which the role of the private sector development partner can encompass all stages from strategic planning through to project delivery, funding and facilities management via an integrated supply chain.

The first hub project, to get underway later this year, is the design and build of a new library and community joint facility in west Edinburgh with an initial capital investment of £5.7 million.

Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented: “We’re delighted to build on our experience of major public sector partnering schemes through this key role with the South East hub Territory Board in Scotland. We look forward to working closely with all our partners and communities to develop high quality facilities which will modernise the provision of local services.”
