Tayside Construction Forum Re-Established

Construction News Image
The Scottish Construction Centre is to support the re-establishment of the Tayside

Construction Forum (TCF).

Perth College is hosting the third in a series of membership development events involving senior members of the construction industry. The meeting, taking place at 4.30pm on Thursday 22 April, aims to promote membership of the TCF and ensure that it reflects the needs of

the industry in the region.

Ken Laing, Director of Contract Services at Dundee City Council and chairman of the TCF steering group will outline the objectives of the Forum and invite suggestions on what issues the industry would like the Forum to prioritise.

“Perth College UHI is delighted to host the TCF event. We are committed to strengthening the skills of people entering and working in the local construction industry and membership of the forum allows us to engage with employers and connect our learning provision with sector requirements,” said Donald Kemp, construction lecturer, Perth College.

"The construction industry in Tayside is facing some major challenges in the wake of the recession which has impacted dramatically on the industry throughout Scotland. The purpose of this event is to engage with the local construction industry, to clarify the key issues it faces and to explore ways in which forum can assist. A major launch event for the forum is planned for later in June," added Ken Laing Chairman of TCF Steering Group.

Malcolm Horner, Director of Scottish Construction Centre, commented: “The launch of TCF supported by the SCC demonstrates the commitment of the industry to the pursuit

of innovation and excellence. The strength of support from local industry reflects its appetite to add even more value to its clients businesses and to create a strong and profitable platform from which to build for the future.”

The earlier development events were hosted by Angus College and Dundee College on 24 February and 22 March respectively.
