Manufacturer of tensile fabric structures, J&J Carter, has created an iconic cover for the North Stand at the recently opened Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow.
The stand is part of a recent £18 million pound refurbishment to create a state-of-the-art 2014 Commonwealth Games venue, officially opened by Princess Anne last week.
"The stand had to be both visually striking to suit the calibre of event such as the Commonwealth Games, and be of high performance, consistent with a state-of-the-art sporting facility.
"We designed, manufactured and installed a multi-bay conic style stadium structure that enhances the ground aesthetically and meets all performance requirements, including the efficient management of rainwater," commented a spokesperson from J&J Carter.
Prior to the Games in 2014 the facility will be used as the training base for the Glasgow Warriors rugby team, various sporting events and athlete training, and a training centre for 2012 Olympics competitors.
The re-development included the construction of new grandstands, indoor athletics training facilities and fitness suite, refurbishment of the athletics track, and extension to the café & reception areas.
