St Moluag's Heritage Museum on Lismore is to receive an accolade for exceptional design quality at a prestigious awards ceremony next month.

The Argyll and Bute Sustainable Design Awards will be presented at Oban's Corran Halls on 12th February.

Eleven shortlisted entries were drawn up for the awards, which recognise, promote and celebrate outstanding standards of design quality across Argyll and Bute.

Each shortlisted entry was the subject of a visit by a panel of judges, as well as a public vote.

The judges considered a range of criteria including best practice, good design principles, context and sustainability. There were 563 votes cast altogether by the public, which were taken in account in the judges' final deliberations.

A distinct people's choice award' in each category – based purely on the public voting figures - will be announced separately at a later date.

Chair of the Argyll and Bute Sustainable Design Forum, Councillor Ron Simon, said: "These awards demonstrate our determination to ensure that Argyll and Bute sets the standards in terms of sustainable development.

"I am pleased at the level of input, discussion and interest shown in these awards. We are fortunate to have so many organisations, communities and individuals who are committed to Argyll and Bute’s future as a sustainable and economically viable place in which to live and work."
