A Galashiels school, Tweedbank Primary, is soon to undergo a £1.5m refurbishment to provide the improved accommodation needed as a result of the increasing school roll.
As part of these works, temporary accommodation was planned to be installed at the school in time for the new summer term.
Due to circumstances outwith Scottish Borders Council's control, the temporary units which were planned to house the primary six and seven pupils for the duration of the works are not going to be ready until later in the new term.
Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, Glenn Rodger, has moved to assure parents that plans have been made to ensure the education of pupils is not disrupted when they return to school next week: "We have made arrangements to accommodate the classes within the school until the temporary classrooms are available.
"Primary six will use last year's primary six class bay, and primary seven will use the open area in the upper school. This area will be screened off from the other classes and be fully equipped as necessary.
"Teachers and pupils at Tweedbank Primary School are well used to working in an open-plan environment so I am confident that these temporary arrangements will have no effect on the quality of teaching and learning at the school."
Parents of children affected by these arrangements have been informed and can contact the headteacher if they have any questions.
