Birley Manufacturing has successfully completed a £600,000 project for Waitrose as part of the supermarket chain's acquisition and conversion programme.
The programme forms part of Waitrose's ambitious expansion strategy, whereby the supermarket chain plans to double its estate.
Project "Troy" was one phase of this plan, and involved the acquisition and conversion of fifteen disused sites, mostly old Somerfield locations.
Birley is a preferred supplier to the supermarket chain, and was heavily involved in the project, supplying stainless steel back wall counters for deli stations, partners dining areas and cigarette and confectionary kiosks to the newly converted stores.
At one point, Birley completed eight stores in just ten weeks – and managed to meet opening date deadlines for all stores.
Birley Manufacturing Sales Manager Darren Smith said: "We have an excellent relationship with Waitrose. The scope of what Birley does for Waitrose is growing all the time and we hope to continue working with them for a long time to come."
