The new £7.7m Blacklaw Primary School in East Kilbride has been officially opened.
The school, which was constructed by one of the South Lanarkshire Council's building partners Bovis, opened to its roll of 250 pupils in May 2008 as part of the council's £850m Primary Schools Modernisation Programme - the largest local authority led programme of its kind in Europe.
Invited guests, along with staff and pupils, were all there to see Councillor Anne Maggs carry out the official duty of unveiling the plaque to mark the opening of the school.
Councillor Maggs said: "It is a great honour to unveil the plaque and I know that the children, teachers and members of the community are very proud of their new school.
"I know that Blacklaw has a great reputation in the community and is a school that helps children acquire the knowledge, concepts, and skills they need to be successful in life and contribute positively to their communities."
As a thank you for performing the opening, pupils presented Councillor Maggs with a decorative plate made by the artist who helped the pupils design the school's new stained glass window. The window was commissioned to acknowledge the families who moved from the old to the new building.
