Plans for a new 200-home residential development in Aberdeen's west-end have been granted by councillors.
The planning committee voted to grant outline planning permission for the development at Hazledene, which will comprise of a mixture of flats and houses of two to five bedrooms.
The site comprises a number of small fields which were used for horticultural purposes, but are now grassed and leased from Aberdeen City Council to applicant Ben Reid Nurseries.
Planning convener Scott Cassie said: "This site has been zoned in the Local Plan for future land release for residential development. It's land that we badly need for housing in Aberdeen and despite what people say about the current economic climate, we have to be in a position when we come out of this economic climate to develop housing and attract families to the city.
"We are committed to developing new housing and this particular development will include 20 affordable housing units. This will be a good quality development – with a good number of properties on the site. The density of housing on the site is in accordance with the planning brief."
